The Charlotte Hornets' active 2026 NBA offseason continued on Sunday, June 28, with another trade that will send a member of its starting lineup out West. The Hornets agreed to terms on a deal with the Phoenix Suns that includes forward Miles Bridges, though it has a few head-scratching details worth diving into.

The news of the trade was first reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, and it will include the following:

  • Suns receive: Miles Bridges, 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick
  • Hornets receive: Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and a 2033 first-round pick

This trade comes days after the Hornets moved starting point guard LaMelo Ball in a blockbuster deal to the Minnesota Timberwolves. For the Suns, Bridges adds immediate depth at forward and gives the team a well-rounded starting group heading into free agency and the 2026 NBA season.

Suns' starting lineup & roster after Miles Bridges trade

  • PG: Devin Booker, Collin Gillespie, Jamaree Bouyea (club option)
  • SG: Jalen Green, Jordan Goodwin
  • SF: Dillon Brooks, Ryan Dunn, Haywood Highsmith
  • PF: Miles Bridges, Koa Peat, Rasheer Fleming
  • C: Mark Williams, Oso Ighodaro, Khaman Maluach

Gillespie, Williams and Goodwin were all free agents entering the 2026 NBA offseason, but all three have reportedly agreed to new deals with the franchise, helping to bolster the team's depth. The addition of Bridges helps to fill a question mark at the power forward position, and could allow the Suns to ease rookie Koa Peat into action after acquiring him via trade during the 2026 NBA Draft.
