People bag on Graves a lot, but he has been a part of the turnaround here.

We are now considered a good organization, one people obviously want to stay with. Skkorp used to be his biggest defender and I can understand it.

Great move. I do think it impacts whether or not he could be hired as a GM elsewhere. I don't know how these dudes contracts are structured, but my guess is that he would honor his contract in its entirety (players dissing their contracts is one thing but it's different in the front office). Also shows how much they value his contributions and that means a lot no matter who you are. Dude's already been with us 14 years and has shown serious upward mobility and talent. In my opinion it's a grooming job for GM right here in AZ down the line.

This Franchise has taken a lot of positive steps IMO the last 5 years. They're really catching their stride in securing a foundation for the long-term success of the team and organization.

Well we certainly have come a long way since the old Busch Stadium St. Louis days with this announcement. Back then as I recall the front office consisted pretty much of Mr. B and a cast of characters like Bing Devine and George Boone.

Way to step up to the plate Michael B. Keim has become THE key person in changing the way the Cards now grade and value personnel to be selected either in FA or the Draft. This change occurred in conjunction with his becoming Director of Player Personnel in 2011. You can say what you want about it taking three years to find out what a draft class can produce, but last year's draft, and FA classes produced a good number of players that were crucial to righting the ship so that we were able to go 7-1 in the last 8 games of the regular season. He followed that class up with a very decent off-season this year again. While many teams had really good drafts this year, few came up with as many players that fit exactly what the position coaches needed in new personnel like the Cards draft did.

Kudos to the Cards for recognizing that, and Kudos to Keim on his promotion to VP. He did it the old fashioned way----he earned it !!!!!

It is always important for an organization to do what needs to be done in order to keep solid personnel around. A smart, savvy, and very un-cardinal like move.

However, before I give Graves any credit, I need to see a long term contract signed by Mr. Calais Campbell. I think it is coming which is why the Cardinals failed to draft a defensive linemen this year, but I will still withhold any praise until it is official.

It refers to RG as concentrating on the business side and Steve on the personnel side. RG seems to be egoless and a vg delegator, which is a winning combo provided he has good people to delegate to. And it seems he does.

Good lord, we passed on Suggs because of one stupid scout? We had our coach leaving the war room in disgust at times? I mean, I know we were pathetic back then, but I had no idea just how pathetic. Makes our transformation all the more dramatic.
