Front-office moves: Steve Keim promoted to VP of player personnel. Jason Licht returning from NE to be director of player personnel.

Love it. Can't lose this guy. Hopefully the Cards do whatever it takes to keep him in the organization for a long, long time.

good move

Bicklely had a comment the other day I thought captured things perfectly: its seems the Cardinals front office has hit its stride and it operating at a higher level.

Give Mike B credit: he has a nice team of people in Whis, Keim and adding Licht. Graves is the consensus builder that melds all those opinions.

A consensus builder is only good if you have enough informed opinions and teams players to make it work. Denny, for example, may have had an informed opinion but wasnt a team player.

I also think that Mike B now has experience and Whis has experience in picking players

all adding up to a decent group

Graves may be getting "promoted" to GM of non-football operations.

Nice............:D

Maybe they will do it like they did the offensive coordinator for a while. We will have a nonfootball operations GM and a football operations GM. Graves has already shown a high standard in the nonfootball operations I think we can look forward to his continued excellence in that position.

People bag on Graves a lot, but he has been a part of the turnaround here.

We are now considered a good organization, one people obviously want to stay with. Skkorp used to be his biggest defender and I can understand it.

But as far as Keim, this was critical. Stability is the foundation for long term success in the NFL.

Sounds like basically he keeps the same job he has always done, but gets a cooler title and a big raise. VP of player personnel is a new position for the Cards.

Keim got the raise and accolades everyone wanted the Cards to give.

Kudos on the Cards.

Graves definitely gets a bad rap. People want to say Green was a great drafter and same with Whiz. Who is the only constant between those guys? Graves does his job well and the part people complain about, i.e. signings, we don't really know who is the problem. It could be the Bidwills not wanting to spend, the agents asking for too much, or it could be Graves. It is nice knowing this franchise isn't hampered by horrible contracts.

Now, will the title of VP prevent other teams from raiding him for the GM of an enemy team?

Good coaches put their players in the best situation where they can succeed.

Good owners and FO's put their franchises in the best situation where they can succeed.

Props to Michael B. & to Rod G.

& of course to Steve.

A little off topic, but did you notice when they show Graves in his office how small it is. Most GM's seem to have these big, lavish offices. Graves look like he took the corner cubicle.

I would not get off this point when we were talking about Keim possibly going to St. Louis.

Make up a position, give it to him, and give him a raise. It is a savy move by the Cardinals, thus why I wouldn't have expected them to do this.

What turnaround? 5-11 as one of the worst teams in AZ history or 8-8 going 1-5 vs playoff teams with only 2 first round picks 2000-2008 still on the team (Yet every first round pick save Wendall Bryant from 2000-2008 was still in the NFL last season.) and 3 seasons after Warner retires they still have huge question marks at QB. That's a turnaround?

That freak 7-2 finish really has the kool aid flowing.

:stick:

Just doing my voluntary off season workout. :D
