Stephen Bobo, an outfielder from Shelbyville, became Vanderbilt baseball's first in-state 2027 commit as he announced his pledge Nov. 3 on social media.

I’m truly blessed to say I’m committing to Vanderbilt University. I would like to thank Coach Corbin, coach Ty, and the rest of the Vanderbilt staff for this opportunity. Also, I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have helped me along this journey. Anchor Down⚓⬇️ pic.twitter.com/b5S18m3av8

Bobo, who is 5-10 and 165 pounds, is the No. 115 player in the class of 2027 according to Perfect Game.

Bobo attends Shelbyville Central High School, where he is also the starting quarterback on the football team.

Vanderbilt now has 10 commitments in its 2027 class with three ranked in the top 100 by Perfect Game.

Vanderbilt has seemingly taken on a renewed focus on in-state recruiting under recruiting coordinator Ty Blankmeyer. In the 2026 class, the Commodores have commitments from seven in-state players, but Bobo is the first commitment from Tennessee in the 2026 class. There are eight players from Tennessee on Vanderbilt's fall roster for the 2025-26 season.
