Stephen A. Smith has urged the Pittsburgh Steelers to find themselves a long-term quarterback option.
The Steelers secured their spot in the playoffs last season with Aaron Rodgers under center, but fell at the first hurdle against the Houston Texans.
A long-term plan is needed in Pittsburgh as 41-year-old Rodgers has announced this will be his final season in the NFL.
With Mason Rudolph currently QB2 in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are going to need a new option for the 2027 season and beyond.
Having set themselves up for a promising future offensively with their skill players and offensive line, Smith is demanding the Steelers to find a new quarterback.

Stephen A. Smith urges Pittsburgh Steelers to find Aaron Rodgers successor at QB
Rodgers has been in the headlines recently following his comments on The Pat McAfee Show earlier in the week.
This will be Rodgers’ last season as an NFL player and he is already looking to go out in style.
However, ESPN analyst Smith has been keen to point out that the Steelers require a top quarterback if they are to be taken seriously in the foreseeable future.
“The problem I have with what you’re saying there is that we’ve been talking about the quarterback piece for over six years. I mean, find somebody!” Smith said on First Take.
“Y’all get paid – those of y’all who don’t play – you get paid to make these decisions. Find a quarterback. And they haven’t been able to do that in many, many years.”
Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer, but the Steelers have landed him right at the very end of his career.
What does success this season for the Steelers realistically look like? Winning a playoff game would like be the absolute ceiling in the eyes of many fans across the league.
The 41-year-old threw for 24 touchdowns last season, but that is a huge step down from the 48 he threw during the 2020 season.
There were 12 quarterbacks who threw for more touchdowns than Rodgers last year and the Super Bowl-winning Sam Darnold threw one more (25) during the regular season.
It appears Rodgers is set on his decision to call it a day after this season, which leaves the Steelers the Steelers with a big decision to make about their future at the quarterback position.
Given the talent they have on offense, the Steelers are urged not to waste the best days of players like DK Metcalf once Rodgers does depart.
