The 2026 Steer Wrestling World Standings have been anything but predictable. Every week seems to bring another shuffle inside the Top 15, and with the busy summer stretch well underway, the race to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is only getting tighter.

While some may be watching the race at the top with 5 time World Champion Tyler Waguespack leading the way, there are some others in the top 15 with quite the story too. A lot of eyes have been on one North Dakota cowboy who is working towards his debut trip to Vegas.

Seth Peterson is not new to the winning circle. He has been a standout his entire career. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with rodeo honors and then entered the professional ranks, where he has continued to dominate.

Last year, Peterson finished 28th in the PRCA World Standings after a very successful year. In the new year, the goal was a little bigger. Seth has had his eyes on the top 15, and in 2026, that goal is becoming a reality.

Peterson has had an amazing year. He got some early money at the National Western Stockshow and Rodeo in Denver, as well as cashing in at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and RODEOHOUSTON. Fast forward to May, and Peterson claimed the Guymon Rodeo Days title, greatly helping his cause. He has not stopped winning since.

The 28 year old got the win in Nampa, Idaho at the Snake River Stampede as well as the World's Oldest Rodeo in Prescott. Now, Peterson is at the Calgary Stampede continuing this winning streak. He had a small amount of money won out of Round 2 of the that first bracket, but a huge round 3 win with a 4.7 second run would help Peterson advance to the showdown round in Calgary.

The big grey horse you see Peterson on the majority of the time goes by the name Coors. He is a big part of Seth's success. On the hazing side is traveling partner Jace Melvin, who also gets a lot of credit for the year Peterson is having so far. The credit also extends to his wife, Lake, who is a WPRA barrel racer herself. A strong support system is a necessity for a successful year on the road.

A big win in Calgary could totally change Peterson's year. He already sits in the #9 spot of the PRCA World Standings and has a chance to make big moves still this summer. Peterson advanced in third place in Pool A behind Jesse Brown and Holden Myers. Those three will head to the showdown, with 3 more guys from each Pool still to go.

With over $70,000 already won on the year, Seth Peterson is putting on a clinic and proving that he wants to be in the little yellow arena come December.
