Former Wisconsin quarterback Scott Tolzien is set to interview for the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator position, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
The former Badger just wrapped up his sixth year in the NFL coaching ranks. Following one season as an analyst on Paul Chryst's Wisconsin coaching staff (2019), he spent five years with the Dallas Cowboys (2020-24), three as a coaching assistant and the last two as their quarterbacks coach. The former NFL signal-caller then spent the 2025 campaign as the New Orleans Saints' quarterbacks coach.
Tolzien played at Wisconsin from 2006-10. He went on to have a seven-year NFL career, split between the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts. He spent much of that time as a backup, finishing his career with 88 completions on 146 total pass attempts, 1,065 yards, two touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Recently-hired head coach Mike McCarthy is filling his coaching staff in Pittsburgh. Notably, he coached Tolzien during his three seasons with the Packers from 2016-18.
Tolzien is not the only former Badger in the news this NFL coaching cycle; program legend Jim Leonhard has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate for the Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator job.
