The Pittsburgh Steelers are headed to the playoffs after Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed a 44-yard field goal to close out the Week 18 matchup — a mistake that some, including Pat Freiermuth, believe stemmed from the actions of a priest before the game.
Speaking with reporters following the Week 18 win over Baltimore, Freiermuth hilariously referenced the priest’s blessing as a contributing factor to Loop’s missed field goal that sent Pittsburgh to the playoffs.
With two seconds remaining in the game, Loop jogged onto the field to attempt a 44-yard field goal to give his Ravens the win. Despite his perfect record from 20–49 yards up until that point, Loop missed on the attempt — with some arguing the blessed end zone, the same side he kicked from, played a part in his Week 18 blunder.
Fans can now look forward to watching the Steelers host the Houston Texans on January 12, at 8:15 p.m. EST, in their first playoff home game since the 2020 season.
