The Pittsburgh Steelers had an eventful offseason, to say the least. But one of their biggest signings could have a big impact on Jaylen Warren in 2026.

From now to the start of the regular season, we at Steelers Wire will be analyzing every player on the roster. Here's a look at Warren and what could be in store this upcoming season.

At a glance

  • Height: 5-foot-8
  • Weight: 215 pounds
  • Age: 27
  • NFL experience: 5

Career with the Steelers

Warren, who signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft, has emerged as a starting-caliber running back.

In his first three years, Warren saw a much smaller workload behind Najee Harris. But he was finally given the starting opportunity after Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025.

Last season, Warren recorded eight total touchdowns and 1,291 yards from scrimmage on 251 touches with an impressive 5.1 yards per touch. He could see a much smaller workload once again heading into 2026, however.

What's next in 2026?

This offseason, the Steelers brought in running back Rico Dowdle, which could be bad news for Warren's snap count. Dowdle, who's coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Carolina Panthers (2025) and Dallas Cowboys (2024), has history with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy and could at least force a 50/50 split with Warren at running back.
