One of the Pittsburgh Steelers' biggest moves this offseason, signing multiple-time 1,000 yard rusher Rico Dowdle, is flying under the radar as we inch closer to training camp.

Career with the Steelers​

Dowdle, who's coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Dallas Cowboys in 2024 and Carolina Panthers in 2025, joined the Steelers on a one-year deal this offseason, reuniting him with head coach Mike McCarthy in Pittsburgh.

What's next in 2026?​

Heading into 2026, Dowdle could make NFL history as the first-ever running back to record three 1,000-yard seasons with three different teams.

Dowdle is expected to split carries with Jaylen Warren, giving the Steelers an underrated one-two punch at the running back position. But don't be surprised if Dowdle sees early-down rushing opportunities over Warren to kick off the 2026 season.
