The Pittsburgh Steelers completely overhauled their roster this offseason on both sides of the football, which could make it a difficult roster climb for several players, such as linebacker Carson Bruener.
From now until the start of the regular season, we at Steelers Wire will be analyzing every player on the roster. Here's a look at Bruener and what could be in store for his 2026 season.
Carson Bruener, the son of former Steelers tight end Mark Bruener, was selected by the Steelers with the 226th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He surprised many by making the 53-man roster as a rookie seventh-rounder and actually stood out as one of the league's top young special teamers. Bruener finished second on the Steelers with 19 special teams tackles.
Heading into 2026, Bruener should once again make the 53-man squad despite a roster loaded with talent. Pittsburgh also barely addressed the linebacker room this offseason, which could bode well for his odds. It wouldn't be surprising if Bruener could put together a Pro Bowl-caliber season as a special teams ace in 2026.
