The Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff continues to roll on ahead of the 2026 NFL regular season, with fans needing to wait only 93 more days until the Steel City brand of football hosts the Atlanta Falcons on September 13.
In the spirit of the countdown, we at Steelers Wire will take a look at the history of the No. 93 jersey and analyze which players wore it best.
Otomewo is the current wearer of No. 93 on the Steelers' roster. After joining Pittsburgh in 2025 as primarily a depth option, Otomewo re-signed with the team on a one-year deal and figures to be one of the top backup options behind Cameron Heyward and Derrick Harmon.
The battle for the best wearer of No. 93 in Steelers history was a close battle between defensive linemen Keith Willis and Joel Steed, but ultimately, the honor fell to the latter.
Interestingly enough, Steed, who was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 1992 NFL Draft, took the number after Willis left Pittsburgh following the 1991 season. Steed went on to play eight seasons in the NFL, all with Pittsburgh at nose tackle. He appeared in 115 games and made 103 starts, recording 305 combined tackles, five forced fumbles, and 9.5 sacks.
Steed, who was named to a Pro Bowl in 1997 and started at nose tackle for the Steelers in Super Bowl XXX, is the greatest No. 93 wearer in franchise history.
