On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off OTAs but this news took a back seat to the announcement that the team had signed quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year contract. According to reports, including ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the contract has a total value of $25 million.
Rodgers signed with the Steelers last season on a one-year deal worth around $13 million and while he didn't play great and the team still didn't win a playoff game, the front office felt to see fit to once again go through this offseason drama and then sign him to a massive raise.
The Steelers have improved every level of the offense this offseason, so there's no excuse for a future first-ballot Hall of Famer to struggle again this season. The team has changed head coaches and the system Rodgers will play in this season is one he's had great success with. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh still hasn't won a playoff game since 2016.
