After months of waiting, Aaron Rodgers finally returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal for the 2026 NFL season — and one prominent insider explained why the 42-year-old quarterback decided to return to the Steel City for his 22nd season.
Following the news of Rodgers' $22 million-plus contract, NFL insider Josina Anderson revealed that, per a league source, Rodgers' decision to return to the Steelers was simple: he loved the team and his teammates.
"When asked why they think Aaron Rodgers agreed to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a league source said, 'He loved it here, loves the guys,'" Anderson wrote via X.
While Rodgers will be without one of his closer teammates from last season, 2025 Steelers MVP Kenneth Gainwell, Pittsburgh acquired some major offensive talent, such as Michael Pittman Jr., in a March trade.
While many are ready to count the veteran quarterback out, Rodgers will head into the 2026 season playing with one of the best offenses he's had in years, and he's clearly ready to silence as many doubters as possible.
