The Pittsburgh Steelers are closing in on their new defensive coordinator hire — a standout candidate with familiarity who has previously spent time under Mike McCarthy.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, the Steelers are reportedly “close to bringing in” Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham as their new DC, given his familiarity with McCarthy.

Graham was hired by McCarthy in 2018 to serve as the Green Bay Packers’ linebackers coach and run game coordinator. He later worked as the defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins in 2019 and the New York Giants from 2020-2021.

From 2022-2025, Graham made the best of a bad situation as the Raiders’ defensive coordinator, leading a solid unit despite Las Vegas consistently ranking among the league’s worst teams in terms of defensive spending.
