On Friday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers had fired special teams assistant coach Derius Swinton for what he's calling a violation of club policy. Swinton was one of the new hires on the staff when Mike McCarthy took over as Steelers head coach. The nature of the violation is unknown at this time.
Swinton was hired in February as an assistant coach to new special teams coordinator Danny Crossman. Swinton spent the previous three seasons as the assistant special teams coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders. He actually finished the 2025 season as the Raiders' interim special teams coordinator.
