There’s a new offensive-minded regime in the Pittsburgh Steelers, and head coach Mike McCarthy will no doubt be looking to acquire additional talent this offseason.
At running back, the Steelers are currently down to Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Steelers’ 2025 team MVP Kenneth Gainwell.
If Pittsburgh ultimately loses out on Gainwell, Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams would make a solid pickup and replacement for the dual-threat playmaker.
2021 (17 games): 903 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, 4.4 yards per carry, 316 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns
2022 (4 games): 204 rushing yards, 0 rushing touchdowns, 5.1 yards per carry, 76 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns
2023 (16 games): 774 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 3.6 yards per carry, 228 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
2024 (17 games): 513 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, 3.7 yards per carry, 346 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns
2025 (16 games): 1,201 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 4.8 yards per carry, 137 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
With Gainwell set to hit free agency and Kaleb Johnson coming off a rough debut season, the Steelers would benefit greatly from the addition of Williams, forming arguably the best running back duo in the league with Warren.
Currently, Spoctrac projects Williams' average annual value of $7.3 million, which Pittsburgh could pull off with ease. We at Steelers Wire predict Williams will sign a two-year, $16 million deal.
