The Wisconsin Badgers women's basketball program has requested another year of eligibility for Gift Uchenna Okeke.
Okeke, a Nigerian native, led the team in rebounds last year with 6.9.
Keep in mind, that's severely down from the double-double she averaged the year prior at Southern Illinois. Obviously, going to the Big Ten was a huge step up, but she averaged 12.8 rebounds during her first true NCAA collegiate season.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Mark Stewart, the team is currently waiting for word on an appeal that could gift Uchenna another year of eligibility.
"With the landscape of college athletics, you never know for sure," Pingeton said. "I feel like we put together a pretty good waiver for her, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens."
At 6-foot-3, Okeke was tied for the team's second-tallest player, only behind 6-foot-4 sophomore Alie Bisballe.
During her 2025-26 season in Madison, Okeke averaged 9.1 points per game along with her 6.9 rebound per game total.
