There were times during the NBA Finals when the San Antonio Spurs showed that they can shoot it with the best of them in the NBA.

Julian Champagnie had a great series, Devin Vassell was very good, and others, at times, knocked down shots at a ridiculously high level. However, there still seems to be a feeling that San Antonio could use more in the shooting department.

The front office will have to be aggressive in finding a shooter this offseason, and according to the latest report, they could be interested in doing so by landing Klay Thompson of the Dallas Mavericks.

"While the Mavericks are not going to get back a hefty return for veteran Klay Thompson, who played only 21.7 minutes per game last season, there are enough contender-types sniffing around that the Mavs have some hope of landing draft capital for him," wrote Heavy's Sean Deveney. "Thompson is 36 but shot 38 percent from the 3-point line last year and has one year and $17 million left on his contract. The Pistons, Spurs, and Blazers are said to be among the interested teams."

At this stage of his career, Thompson obviously isn't the same player many Spurs fans remember from his time with the Golden State Warriors. However, he still is a respected veteran who can shoot it with the best of them when he's at the top of his game.

There's something to be said about that, and it also gives the Spurs another grown-up in the room, which proved to be something the team needed during their Finals series against the New York Knicks.
