NEW YORK - So, Tuesday night’s 4-1 victory against Seattle was the Yankees’ 30th comeback win of the year.
Each of the Yanks’ last three wins and 10 of their last 17 – since July 19 – have fallen in that category, falling within this ESR period (Epic Struggle for Runs).
“I hope it serves us well in the end,’’ manager Aaron Boone said of his club’s nearly two-month stretch of playing in tight games, receiving excellent pitching while trying to get it going offensively.
“I think there’s value in these games,’’ said Boone, hoping that Tuesday’s four-run, seventh-inning breakthrough is a sign of “getting closer to where we need to be’’ as a lineup.
But first baseman/DH Ben Rice is in a rough stretch, batting .119 (8-for-67) since July 22, and Heliot Ramos is 2-for-21 (.095) since arriving via trade last week from San Francisco.
In this run of facing a lot of right-handed starters, Bryce Miller (4-6, 3.08) will face the Yanks, opposed by Will Warren (8-6, 4.18).
Of note in Boone's lineup, Spencer Jones was elevated to the No. 3 spot, and George Lombard Jr. is batting ninth.
