NEW YORK - The last time the Yankees saw the Mariners was in the season's first week, when they took two of three games at Seattle.

On Tuesday, the disappointing 56-63 Mariners - third place in the AL West, riding a four-game losing streak - arrive at Yankee Stadium to begin a three-game set.

Swept by the Tampa Bay Rays at home this past weekend, the Mariners are due to start right-hander Bryan Woo (8-8, 4.31), and the Yanks will go with lefty Ryan Weathers.

Over his last three starts, Weathers has gone 2-1 with a 0.48 ERA, yielding just one run in 18.2 innings.

Of course, it's been a struggle for runs since mid-June for the second-place Yanks (66-52), although Austin Wells - in the midst of a miserable offensive season - has picked it up of late.

Since July 20, the lefty-hitting catcher is batting .306 (11-for-36) with a .960 OPS and two home runs.

On the flip side, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is batting .191 with a .605 OPS since June 20, covering 142 plate appearances.

In that 38-game stretch, the Yankees have posted a 17-21 record.

Here is the Yankees' Tuesday night lineup...

  1. Trent Grisham, CF
  2. Ben Rice, DH
  3. Heliot Ramos, LF
  4. Luis Garcia Jr., 1B
  5. Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
  6. George Lombard Jr., SS
  7. Spencer Jones, RF
  8. Ryan McMahon, 3B
  9. Austin Wells, C
