Southern Miss football will net $1.525 million from its four nonconference games in 2026, according to information acquired through an open records request by The Hattiesburg American.

The Golden Eagles start the season by hosting Alcorn State on Sept. 5 before hitting the road to play Auburn on Sept. 12. Southern Miss returns home on Sept. 19 to face UConn and then finishes out its nonconference slate with a road game against Tulane on Sept. 26.

Below are the contract details for each game.

Alcorn State

Southern Miss and Alcorn State will wrap up a two-game series in 2026. The Golden Eagles hosted the Braves in 2023 and won the game 40-14.

Southern Miss agreed to pay Alcorn State $400,000 for each game at M.M. Roberts Stadium. That sum includes a $25,000 payment per game to the Alcorn State band Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite.

The Braves, who play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, went 5-7 in 2025. The Golden Eagles hold an all-time record of 4-0 against Alcorn State.

At Auburn

The matchup between Southern Miss and Auburn was originally scheduled to be played on Sept. 26, 2020, but it was postponed until 2026 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Golden Eagles will receive $1.85 million to play at Jordan-Hare Stadium this season.

The Tigers finished with a 5-7 record in 2025. They are 18-5 all-time against Southern Miss.

UConn

Southern Miss and UConn will begin a home-and-home series in 2026. The Golden Eagles will host this season and play at UConn in 2029. No payments will be made by either team.

The Huskies went 9-4 in 2025 before losing their coach Jim Mora to Colorado State. They hired longtime Toledo coach Jason Candle to take over the program.

The teams have never faced each other.

At Tulane

Southern Miss and Tulane are in the middle of a four-game series that began in 2022. In the first meeting, the Golden Eagles won on the road 27-24. In 2023, Tulane redeemed itself with a 21-3 win at Southern Miss. This year's matchup will be played at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans; next year's will be at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg.

Throughout the series, the visiting team will receive a payment of $75,000 from the home team, meaning Tulane will pay Southern Miss this season. The Golden Eagles will be facing their former head coach, Will Hall, now the head coach of the Green Wave.

Tulane went 11-3 in 2025, and former coach Jon Sumrall left the program to take over at Florida, leaving an opening that would eventually be filled by Hall.

Southern Miss has an all-time record of 24-10 against Tulane.
