Looks like Foles is now the QB 'Soup of the Day.'
He played a great game vs. the Pats and their mediocre D. The win over the Vikes was more impressive considering the high the Vikes were on with their miracle win and the fact that the Vikes D much better than the Pats. Plus, you know the Vikes wanted to play the SB in their new home stadium
For a QB hungry team like the Cards, it is to be expected that we have the quick twitch reaction to trade for Foles. Even PP called for either Cousins or Foles---and this was before the SB was even played.
We need to stifle our enthusiasm---don't want to be like a bunch of cockroaches looking for crumbs in the empty pantry.
Is Foles a match for this team? Does his skill set match what McCoy/SW want to do with the offense? Do we have the players to compliment Foles---our OL is nowhere near the Eagles OL that kept Foles protected in the SB.
We have some former QBs of our own to evaluate---we need to give Gabbert, Stanton, and even Barkley the eyeball test under the new coaching staff and their playbook.
BA liked all three for being able to run his O and toss the rock downfield. None had outstanding success. In fact, for all of BA's 'QB Whisperer' and his staff of coaching legends, Gabbert had the exact same stats that he put up for his previous 6 years. Stanton never seem to progress beyond average despite his years under BA and knowing the playbook. Barkley has the desire but was also let go by BA in favor of Stanton.
Foles history shows that some QB just need to right system, the right coaching. Got to keep that in mind going forward and consider some previous 'Soup of the Day' QBs before we mortgage the draft choice future.
