Just a few tidbits from a draft preview that was done on ESPN's show First Take where the had Somers giving info on the potential picks/needs for the Cards. Nothing is really earth-shattering here but I'd figure I would pass it along

- Says 70-30 chance Q is gone. Doesn't really mention to who but he says its getting more and more likely.
- Mentioned needs as RB (don't expect Beanie Wells and Knowshon to be there) so Donald Brown is likely, getting younger at OLB such as Larry English and says a real outside chance they take Alex Mack.
- Ultimately in their mock decided on Donald Brown for their pick

Take it for what its worth

Brown & English...

would make me very happy BUT I only see that if the Q deals go through. Need the ammunition to pull the trigger. That being said I'm approaching the Draft BOTH relaxed & excited. "Relaxed" because we're no longer clueless about what we're doing and "Excited" because we can seriously up-grade the over-all talent of the team. ...And the existing talent is already pretty darn good! GO CARDS!! THANX for posting!

i hope we don't take Brown. He just does nothing for me that garners a 1st round pick. But,after reading Somers column on what Whiz wants in a player, he may very well be the pick because i'm sure he fits the mold.

I dont think Brown is flashy like some of the 2008 1st round RB's like Stewart or Johnson, maybe a few others. But I do think he is and would have a not so flashy work horse type impact that Forte had for the Bears.

he could very turn out ot be the best RB in the draft.Heck, i almost didn't like any of our picks last year and it may turn out to be the best Cards draft ever. I looked to see where Tiki Barber got drafted because that's who he is most compared to and he went 36th.So drafting him at 31 is not that much of a stretch. i just think if no Wells or Moreno, the no RB in round 1.

We need pass rushers MORE than we need a RB. English all the way if they are both on the board.

I'd say Brown and English are the targets right now, with a Boldin trade. He won't be going to the NFC however, rest assured of that. That in itself is the bonus in this.

I just did a quick BRS analysis matching up my top 31 players who could most help the Cardinals with the mocks of Kiper,McShay, War Room, Prisco and KFFL - in order to gain a general sense of whether they'd still be available when we drafted at #31. Here's how it came out:

- Forget Wells.

- We have an outside shot that Moreno might fall to us.

- Matthews could surprise everyone and fall to us

- Wood and Mack should definitely be available,

- Laurinaitis has a better-than-50:50 probability of being there.

- English should go late in the round and is 40 -60 to be there for us.

- It would be a surprise if Butler were off the board.

- Duke Robinson, *Barwin and Delmas should be there.

- Should D Brown be our default RB pick, we'd most likely get him at #31.

- I rated Pegues far higher than anyone else did.

Any of the other usual suspects not mentioned above are close to a lock to not being available when we draft.

Bottom Line - If we expect to draft a RB with our top pick (& barring any trades), it's probably 85% we'd draft D Brown and 5% or less we'd somehow get Wells. (I'd grudgingly give a 10% shot to McCoy just to make the percentages look realistic).

Brown was just on Gambo and Ash. He sounds pretty impressive on the radio. Hopefully that translates to the field.

Jeff- How high would our odds be to get Wells with some of the potential picks we have heard about for Boldin- #26? #21? #17?

If Moreno and Wells are gone, I'd rather go OLB in the first and try to pick up Shonn Greene or another 2nd tier RB in the 2nd or 3rd (I consider Brown closer to this group than Wells and Moreno).

I would be thrilled with a L.English, Shonn Greene first two picks.

Besides and extra traded picks.
