Softball: No-hitter by Lake Wales' Conroy leads all highlights from district semifinals

Lake Wales senior Anna Conroy hurled a no-hitter and faced just one batter over the minimum to lead the Highlanders to a 2-0 victory over Innovation on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Class 4A, District 7 softball tournament.

Lake Wales (14-8) will play Lake Region at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the district championship game.

Conroy struck out 14 of the 22 batters she faced. She had a perfect game going until walking the leadoff batter in the fifth inning. She went on to strike out the side.

Lake Wales took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Keira Davis led off the inning with a single and later scored on a passed ball. Johalis Rivera-Colon tripled to lead off the fourth and later scored on an infield groundout.

4A-7: Lake Region routs Jones​


Makenna Meadows struck out all nine batter she faced in a three-inning no-hitter as the Thunder routed Orlando Jones, 16-0.

Meadows and Chic Jenkins homered as Lake Region piled up 12 hits. Meadows went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Jenkins went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Kailyn Reeder had three hits and four RBIs,a nd Camryn Fail had two hits and three RBIs. Makayla Lawson drove in two runs.

7A-10: Winter Haven, George Jenkins to meet in final​


George Jenkins had just five hits but walked 12 times in a 17-2 rout of Ridge Community. Reese Yungbluth, Riley Pate, Kamryn Pickering, KK Hinline, Alaina Kennedy and Audrey Giddeion each had two RBIs for the Eagles.

George Jenkins will play Winter Haven in the championship game at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Winter Haven defeated Haines City, 11-1.

Reagan Barrett went 2 for 3 for the Blue Devils. Finley Aycock drove in two runs, and Cameron Shelby scored three runs.

5A-7: Gonzalez, Miller lead Auburndale over Lake Gibson​


Gabriella Gonzalez went 3 for 4 and scored three runs, and Bryon Miller went 3 for 4 with three RBIs to lead Auburndale to a 10-4 victory over Lake Gibson in the 5A-7 semifinals.

The Bloodhounds, who finished with 12 hits, jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Kendra Strickland doubled and drove in three runs, and Jamya Gafford had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

1A-8: Merritt’s double lifts LCS over Santa Fe​


Riley Merritt drove in Cali Thornton with a double to lift Lakeland Christian to a 4-3 victory over Santa Fe Catholic on Tuesday night in the 1A-8 district semifinals.

Rylan Rollyson and Emerson Tyler also drove in a run for LCS.

Claire McGee and Kindra Kelch each had a hit and with an RBI.

Rural-8: Fort Meade routs Glades Day​


Gracie Taylor pitched a three-inning no-hitter and was supported by 10 hits in Fort Meade’s 15-0 victory over Belle Glade Glades Day.

MaKayla Deleon and Marleigh Carroll each went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Ryleight Grace went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
