Missouri mounted a comeback late, but Texas A&M held on to defeat the Tigers and claim an 11-9 victory in Game 1 on Friday night.
If there is anything the Aggies can take away from Friday's results, it is the need for improvement on the mound. Texas A&M had a commanding 10-1 lead in the fifth inning, but Missouri quickly turned it around and closed the gap to 10-9 entering the eighth. The Aggie bullpen allowed nine total runs on 13 hits, including two home runs. Texas A&M burned through five arms on the bump, as they combined for nine strikeouts and walked three in the win.
Meanwhile, the Maroon and White lineup kept Michael Earley's club in front until the final out by recording 11 runs on eight hits with two home runs and 10 RBI. The Aggies continue to get major production from outstanding freshman outfielder Jorian Wilson, who recorded the third home run of his first collegiate campaign on Friday night. Caden Sorrell notched the other homer for Texas A&M, a three-run shot that marked his 13th time going yard so far this season.
Next up, the Aggies are slated to face off against the Tigers in Game 2 at Taylor Stadium on Saturday evening. The game is set to get started at 4 p.m. CT. All games against Mizzou will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
