Soccer Sensation Alisha Lehmann Opens Up on ‘New Beginnings’ After Surprise Signing originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
It’s understandable why almost every Italian club was seemingly interested in signing Alisha Lehmann.
Last season, she played a pivotal role in helping Juventus capture both the Serie A title and Coppa Italia. The dynamic Swiss winger also has an impressive past in the Women’s Super League, scoring 19 goals and adding 10 assists during her time in England.
When you factor in Alisha’s 16 million Instagram followers, alongside a huge following on TikTok and other social media channels, her influence off the field is as unique as her style.
While soccer fans may have figured her next move would be toward a top-performing club, she signed a three-year deal with FC Como Women, a team that finished in the bottom half of Serie A and carries no European football prospects; it was a surprising choice, on the surface.

As reported by The Guardian, Lehmann explained her reasoning: “It’s an independent club, fully focused on women’s football…and that really matters to me,” she said. “From the start, I could see this wasn’t just another team; it’s a project with real purpose and vision. [So] signing with FC Como Women just felt right.”
On Instagram, she marked the announcement with a simple story post reading “New Beginnings.” Another clip in her stories drew focus to her neck tattoo that reads “Be Brave,” a motto she’s carried into her career moves.
Before officially joining Como, Lehmann posted a heartfelt farewell message to Juventus fans:
“I want to say thank you for this amazing year, especially to my teammates and the amazing fans. The hard work we have put in last season and won titles, a team that I will never forget. I didn’t just have teammates, we were a family and I made friends for life. To leave such an amazing club and people that are close to me, was a very difficult decision. This club, this team and those fans will always have a special place in my heart.”
What sets FC Como apart is that it’s completely independent of any men’s football organization. “What I love is that they [FC Como management] take the game seriously, but also create space for players to be themselves,” said Lehmann.
