I saw an ad for this other movie... Evil Dead Rise I think it was...something about an apartment complex over run with demons...at first thought it was part of Bruce Campbells "Evil Dead" line of movies but it wasnt... a guy named Lee Cronin I think it was...I wonder if this is that same film maker...seems the "Evil Dead" name got free from Bruce and is in circulation again in hollywierd

There was the original trilogy - Evil Dead, Evil Dead Ii, and Army of Darkness.

There have been three films since then - Evil Dead, Evil Dead Rise, and Evil Dead Burn.

okay...quick research shows they are actually sequels to the first ones... Sam Raimi is running the show... cronin directed rise but is not involved with the others... so yeah...makes six movies in the franchise because these do in fact have "Deadites"

They are "sequels" to the original. The first one wasn't worth the film it was made with and so I was done.
That is quite an... odd.. take. Especially about an indie horror film from the 70s that opened to door the an entire sub genre.

I will admit, I'm not enamored with the first movie, but I certainly appreciate what it did, and it did lead us to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. I'm not a huge propoenent of AoD, but Evil Dead II IMO is a masterpiece.

Again, this comes from a mistake made because I was responding via quote and my post was taken out of context. The first of the new trilogy was god awful. I remember one character getting stabbed in the heart and another giving them sugar water to help with the blood loss. Like...dumb, just idiotic.

Oh so you're not talking at all about Sam Raimi's first Evil Dead?

Glad to hear that the one which disappointed you was the remake. Whew.

And next up is a prequel to the original Sam Raimi film.

Evil Dead Wrath is an upcoming American supernatural horror film written and directed by Francis Galluppi, and produced by Rob Tapert and series creator Sam Raimi. It is the seventh installment in the Evil Dead film series, and a prequel to The Evil Dead (1981), taking place in 1972. The film stars Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, and Ella Newton.

Evil Dead Wrath is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing on April 7, 2028.
