Sioux Falls, S.D. (Skyforce) — The Sioux Falls Skyforce (16-14) were defeated 119-118 by the Austin Spurs (17-10) Sunday afternoon at the Sanford Pentagon one day after the Skyforce defeated the Spurs. The result evened the season series at 1-1.
Sioux Falls led 67-61 at halftime. The second half turned into a battle between the two teams as the Skyforce built a lead as large as 19 points. Austin responded late and hit a three-pointer in the final moments to secure the victory.
Dain Dainja recorded his second consecutive double-double and led the Skyforce with 25 points while also grabbing a team-high twelve rebounds. Josh Christopher added 16 points along with a team-high seven assists and six rebounds. Miami HEAT assignee Keshad Johnson finished with 14 points and nine rebounds narrowly missing a double-double of his own.
Miami HEAT two-way guard Jahmir Young tallied 23 points with five assists and four rebounds. Young also extended his newly set Skyforce franchise record for most consecutive 20-plus point games in a season reaching sixteen.
For Austin, Adam Flagler led the Spurs with 28 points. San Antonio Spurs two-way forward Harrison Ingram contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds while Spurs two-way forward Emanuel Miller added 15 points.
Sioux Falls shot 45.7 percent from the field (43-94) and 30.8 percent from three-point range (12-39). Austin shot 47.9 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc.
The Spurs will continue their road trip but return to Texas to face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Bert Ogden Arena on March 10 with tip-off scheduled for 7:00pm CST. The Sioux Falls Skyforce return to action at home as the Stockton Kings visit Sioux Falls on March 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30pm CST at Heritage Court.
