Sixers linked to All-WCC forward in recent mock draft originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
One of the bigger moments in the Philadelphia 76ers’ season was their trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, which sent second-year guard Jared McCain to the Western Conference in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2026 NBA draft, along with a slew of second-round picks in the coming years.
While McCain has gone on to have a deep playoff run with the Thunder, the Sixers’ season ended in mid-May, leaving only the offseason to look forward to. The pick received in the deal turned out to be the Houston Rockets, who, after an early exit to the Los Angeles Lakers, find themselves at the 22nd pick in the upcoming draft.
As there always is, many mock drafts have been made, but in the last few days, the NBA held its annual draft combine for prospects to show off their talents to the various front offices around the league.
Following the combine, a fresh new batch of mock drafts has come out, meaning the world can have a glance at how things might shake out. In a recent mock draft by USA Today’s Mark Giannotto, the Sixers are seen to pick Allen Graves from the Santa Clara Broncos.
Who is Allen Graves?
As previously stated, Graves is a forward out of Santa Clara in the West Coast Conference, appearing in 35 games during his first season in collegiate play, averaging 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field.
In his lone appearance in the national championship, Graves put up 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Broncos' 84-89 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats.
Given his height and familiarity on the wing, the 20-year-old wouldn’t be the worst choice for Philadelphia to pick up when their name is on the clock, given that Kelly Oubre Jr isn’t guaranteed to return as he’s an unrestricted free agent, as well as the lackluster season from Justin Edwards. Graves fills out a similar frame to Oubre, standing an inch taller, with their wingspans landing within two inches of each other, with the free agent beating him out in the narrow margins.
Given that there’s more than a month away before the league welcomes in a new class of players, it will be something to keep an eye on moving forward.
