While the Philadelphia 76ers have been busy in the offseason looking to retool around their star core, one of those core pieces is getting busy in FIBA World Cup action.
Young guard VJ Edgecombe went to work early and often as he led Bahamas to a 123-74 win over Jamaica. The win is part of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers for 2027 and Edgecombe made sure Bahamas didn't mess around as he scored 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting, including 6-for-11 from deep. He played 27 minutes and also pulled down nine rebounds with five steals in the effort.
Edgecombe had some explosive plays as he showed off his ability to get easy buckets. He has such an innate knowledge of finding open spots within the defense and that allows him to find easy shots while also being able to bolt up and knock down jumpers with ease.
Edgecombe and Bahamas will take on Puerto Rico on Monday to continue the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
