Six Central Texas girls soccer teams have advanced to Tuesday's UIL regional finals, including two Austin-area head-to-head matchups in Class 6A with Lake Travis and Round Rock squaring off in Division I and Dripping Springs and Vandegrift meeting in Division II for state semifinal berths. The Lake Travis-Round Rock game is a rematch of last year's Region IV-6A championship.

Cedar Park and Wimberley also are playing in regional finals while Hendrickson, Georgetown, LASA, Anderson and Johnson all fell in last weekend's regional semifinals.
Advancing 11 schools into the third round is an historic high for traditionally strong Central Texas girls soccer. The bi-district crossover ended the seasons after only the first playoff match for strong sides from Westwood, Westlake, Austin High and Cedar Ridge.

Round Rock, Lake Travis collide again:Round Rock advanced to the regional finals with an impressive 4-1 win over District 27-6A champion Cibolo Steele. Aidan Hernandez, Audrey Redus, Sophia Ortiz and Grace El-Deir scored for the Dragons while Lucy Grazecki had a stellar effort in the goal. The Dragons next play Lake Travis, which shut out Johnson 3-0 as Ava Gilbert and Peyton Tristan combined for the clean sheet. Amelia Clark, Mya Griffin and Sutton Leibowitz each scored for the Cavaliers.
Vandegrift, Dripping Springs roll on: Vandegrift's Jacky Dashnaw scored in her fourth straight playoff match and Annelise Miller added a goal as the Vipers beat Veterans Memorial 2-1. Kyla Jones had another strong performance in the goal. ... Dripping Springs, meanwhile, beat top-ranked Harlingen in a shootout following a 1-1 regulation and overtime. In the shootout, four Tigers scored — Carson Thompson, Shea Sisson, Emerson Barefoot and Bailey Stephenson, while goalkeeper Annabelle Pittman capped a great night on the pitch with a couple of key saves.
Cedar Park eyes return to state:Defending Class 5A Division II state champion Cedar Park edged a strong McAllen Memorial team 3-2 as Brynlee Nordstrom netted a pair of goals, Kristi Tabor scored a goal and Blake Gilkey had a pair of assists.
Wimberley blanks Ingleside: Defending Class 4A DII state champion Wimberley shut out Ingleside 8-0 as Lilli Sandoval and Dylan Watson each scored two goals. Emma Durkin, Trinity Laney, Cameron Thames and Gwyn Lerma also scored. Sisters Abby and Emma Durkin each had an assist.
Austin-area softball
• It was a huge week for Weiss, which improved to 21-3-2 on the season and 7-0 in district with a three-inning, 24-0 win over Connally and a huge 5-0 shutout of state-ranked East View. In the Connally win, three Weiss pitchers for the hitless shutout; Jillian Herridge faced four batters, Jordynn Booe faced three (all strikeouts) and Aubrey Santos closed the game by striking out all three batters she faced. ... The win over East View was closer than the final score showed. Weiss led 1-0 after five innings.
• Hays and Leander are tied for the District 25-5A lead at 7-1 with the Lions hosting the Hawks Tuesday, Last Friday, Hays beat Cedar Park 5-1 and Rouse beat Glenn 15-4. ... McCallum took a two-game lead in 24-5A by beating LASA 5-4 on Saturday while Ann Richards blanked Navarro 20-0. Crockett beat Anderson 12-2 Friday, and Bastrop beat county rival Cedar Creek 19-3.
• Vista Ridge and Hutto are tied on top in 15-6A after Hutto beat Round Rock 13-3 and Vista Ridge blanked McNeil 16-0. Vista Ridge rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat Round Rock 5-4 last Tuesday; Jaylee Agnew had the game-tying sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to drive home Kristy Yepez. ... Cedar Ridge blasted Manor 15-0 and Westwood edged Vandegrift 10-8.
• Dripping Springs leads District 26-6A after a 21-0 win over Akins while Bowie edged Lake Travis 4-3 and Del Valle beat Akins 13-9.
