SIOUX CITY, IA (KCAU) – Monday morning, the Explorers hosted their annual media day to speak with players and coaches as they run through final spring workouts before their season opener in Chicago on May 15th.

Last year, the X’s made the postseason as the first seed but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Sioux Falls Canaries, who then fell in the championship series.

Now, with only so many days available for spring workouts, the Explorers are working hard to get several new faces acclimated and returners back into the swing of things.

Speaking with outfielder Henry George about season goals, he said, “For me, obviously I want to have an impact on the field, but more so have an impact in the clubhouse, especially with having rookies and stuff like that, help make their transition to pro ball as easy as possible.”

Later, the winningest manager in X’s history, Steve Montgomery, added, “It would be very beneficial to get some of that veteran leadership in this clubhouse. But at the same time, I am very excited about this team’s youth and athleticism. We showed well yesterday, but at the end of the day your only going to be as good as what you do with 60 feet 6 inches.”

Even though the X’s start their 2026 season next Friday in Chicago, make sure you mark those calendars for the home opener on Friday, May 22nd!
