Altherr’s two-run blast in bottom of eighth inning boosts Chicago over Sioux City 4-3 on Opening Day

CHICAGO, Ill. (KCAU) – Chicago left fielder Aaron Altherr’s two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning put the Dogs over Sioux City 4-3 on Opening Day.

X’s starting pitcher Zach Willeman struck out six batters in five innings in his return to Sioux City in the loss.

Sioux City designated hitter led the Explorers at the plate with three hits and two RBI in his debut with the club.

The Explorers return to action on Saturday at 6 p.m. on the road at Chicago.
