GT team bus suffers short circuit scare after IPL 2026 final defeat to RCB

Gujarat Titans' night went from bad to worse on Sunday as their team bus suffered a short circuit hours after their defeat in the IPL 2026 final against RCB at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

GT's performance in the final was below par as their much-famed batting lineup crumbled under pressure and they managed to put up a low score of just 155 runs on the board.

Riding on Virat Kohli's unbeaten 75, RCB then comfortably chased down the total in the 19th over to clinch their second consecutive IPL title. GT have now lost their second final after their defeat against CSK in 2023.

After the final was over, as GT players were returning to the team hotel on the team bus, the vehicle reportedly suffered a short circuit, according to PTI. The report added that smoke started to spread inside the bus, which led to a panic evacuation of the players on the street.

However, the good news is that not a single team member and the support staff were harmed in the incident and the situation was later brought under control.

The Cricket News Opinion: An impressive campaign ended in a nightmare

GT experienced an impressive campaign in the IPL 2026 season as they finished runners-up on net run rate in the league stage, behind league leaders RCB.

GT recorded nine wins in 14 matches, which include a five-match winning streak in the middle, which catapulted them to the top half of the league table after a difficult start initially.

In the playoffs, they lost to RCB in Qualifier 1 but bounced back with a convincing win over RR in Qualifier 2. However, RCB proved to their bogey side in this season as they lost their third game in a row against Rajat Patidar's side and settled for the silver medal.
