The Cards beat themselves today and in my opinion that is good news. We really outplayed the Lions and I honestly don't believe the mistakes will continue.

Delay of game penalties should be out of our system in pre-season but this was game one. We will get better.

I have been a fan since 1967 and typically would be very critical after a game like this. I don't know why but I am not all that discouraged. I know people will say same old Cards and in a way I can't blame them. I want to see where they stand after the first five games.

Need the pass rush to be effective on D. Again, I believe it will come around.

Boldin is the real deal and Smith and Shipp will wear teams down later in the year.

Can't believe I am this positive after a loss by 18 points the the stickin Lions.

:) :) :)

I feel really good after this loss also.

Heck, my Uncle who would go so far as gripe about a missed extra point in a 69-0 Cards win actually called me up and said he was impressed by the way they played and that they should have won the game.

this team reminded me of the team the year we had boomer at qb..put up tons of points...tons of yardage - but the defense could not stop anyone and special teams were not very good..

I'm gonna have to calm down and agree with you guys.

Great thread btw.

Really losing always sucks but in this game it was like a reverse of the normal Cardinals story.

Inferior team wins due to turnovers. Usually we are on the other side of that one in that we only win when the other team beats themselves.

That wasn't true at all today we would have manhandled them without the turnovers.

Boldin is amazing but if they don't have a one two puch to go with him it won't matter much because now he's gonna draw double teams.

How can you feel good about this game. Our lines were both mauled....I could hardly stand to watch as Dish was blown up again and again and Clement and Shelton were offsides over and over....there was no pressure from the definsive side...and they were rested most of the game. Our Db looked really bad and our safteys...were terrible. They have to play better....they were clearly not ready to play today. Our only ray of sunshine and it was more like a seriously blinding light was the Big Bang. I like his theory....when in doubt just take it to the house. That he was the only playmaker on the field today speaks volumes as to what and where this team is headed. He can't do it all by himself...the other playmakers have to step up. Lets start with the coaching staff looking themselves in the mirror and taking responsibility for a terrible second half of foot ball and really poor special teams play. Bill Grammatica...grow a pair and put the ball in the endzone..... enough with the short kicks.....

I also don't think it was the defense.

Charles Rogers is a real talent and I figure unless teams double him he will do that quite a bit. What really hurt was field position.

Our defense isn't supposed to carry the team just slow down the other one and limit the scoring.

4 turnovers and crappy kickoffs is asking way to much of our defense.

Those are good points. But, the defense gets played to make plays too. Sacks and turnovers are equalizers, we didn't get any today. You can't expect the offense to play flawlessly either.

Yeah

I like this thread as well.

Normally I'd be ranting and raving and doing my Chicken Little impression.

I actually listened to most of this game because I thought we had a chance even at the end of the 3rd quarter.....many times as a 40 year fan I've just turned it off because I couldn't bear to listen anymore.

I'll be happier next week if:

(1) Someone can kick the ball into the friggin endzone.

(2) Clement brings his brain to the game.

(3) Coaches let Kenny King play more.

(4) The refs suck less.

(5) The coaches can get the friggin plays into the game on time.

(6) The offensive line would try to kick someones arse.

See....I'm not hard to please.

Liked Emmitt....liked Shipp.....loved Anquan......here's hoping the defense will play a little better....but I can't blame them for poor field position.

It could be worse......you could be a Bengals fan.

The Lions have an up-and-coming OL unit that many don't give credit to..... Jeff Backus ('01 1st rounder out of U of Michigan),
Stockar McDougle (was a 1st rounder entering his 4th year),
Ray Brown (who has been a major force for the past 18 seasons), and Eric Beverly are coming into their own.... Plus, they have pro-bowl alternate TE from last season, Ricks, and
FB Schlesinger, who should be All-Pro every season... So, I wouldnt discredit the Lions and also claim that the Cardinals didnt completely bring it upon themselves to lose
