Oakland Athletics' No. 18 prospect Ryan Lasko - who starred at Jackson Memorial High School and Rutgers University - said on social media Thursday he is "doing well and on the road to recovery" after surgery from injuries incurred from a collision with a teammate earlier this week.

Lasko collided with Double-A Midland teammate Devin Taylor during a game in Frisco, Texas. Surgeons performed a spinal decompression and stabilization procedure at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano to address a fractured C6-C7 vertebra on Wednesday.

"This is going to be a lengthy process but I hope to be able to get back to doing what I love," Lasko posted.

Lasko was chasing down a ball in the gap in the third inning of the contest. He dove to try and make the catch and collided with Taylor.

The outfielder was selected by the Athletics with the 41st overall pick in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft.

Lasko in 2023 wrapped up a historic three-year Rutgers career that saw him become the first player in program history to be named All-Big Ten First team twice. He ranks in the Top 5 in Rutgers history in career home runs and set single-season records for total bases, runs and home runs.

At Jackson, Lasko led the team to the championship game of the "Last Dance World Series" in the summer of 2020, was named Second Team All-Shore in 2019 and helped the Jaguars become 2018 South Group IV sectional champion.
