After the Boston Celtics were unceremoniously booted in the first round of the 2026 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs at the hands of a banged-up Philadelphia 76ers squad, a lot of chatter about what Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens ought to do with the roster abounded. And among them we can count former Boston big man Shaquille O'Neal, who recently shared his thoughts on what the Celtics should do to retool their roster.

Speaking on a recent episode of the "Rich Eisen Show," The Big Aristotle started out by letting us know the one thing he would NOT do in such a scenario. "I don't think they should break up (Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum)," said Shaq. "They just have to learn how to have better in-game adjustments."

"The Celtics, they're going to die by the jump shot and live by the jump shot," added the former Celtics center.

"When it's falling, it looks pretty, but you have to have that mentality, 'Hey, I just missed two 3s, let me go take a high percentage shot. And that's why they lost – Jaylen Brown was playing excellent, and Tatum came back," said Shaq.

"Listen, it still could work. You could still have two alpha males on the same team doing the same thing because listen, they're both going to touch the ball. It just comes down to who's going to take the last shot and the game always dictates that, so I don't think there's animosity between them, that they're trying to make animosity between them, but by that single phrase, whose team is it? But once you figure out your formula, our formula back in our day was give me the ball early, probably going to be missing a lot of free throws. Kobe (Bryant), you take over in the fourth quarter and we just ride it like that, and it worked for us."

"We were able to win three games in a row, but we did a great job of having having in-game adjustments."
