Was star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum not in the loop on the Jaylen Brown trade? Some recent words from former teammate Jeff Teague on his "Club 520" podcast framed the St. Louis native as surprised by the decision of Celtics President of Basketball Operations President of Basketball Operations and company to move on from Brown in favor of Paul George and an underwhelming assortment of draft assets.
More importantly, it sounded as if Tatum was unhappy about the move as well. "I talked to my boy yesterday," said Teague. "Shout out to my boy (Evan Turner), too. My boy (Jayson Tatum is) motivated ... he was legit like, 'Damn, I can't believe that (expletive) went down like that. You know what I mean?"
"That's some (expletive), really," added Teague, who didn't want to speak for Tatum, but relayed that the Duke alum said "'Damn, that's something – that's weird'"
"Asking those questions, you know what I mean?" continued the former Boston floor general. "Like, 'Damn, can y'all believe that (expletive)?'"
Taken out of context, Teague's account of Tatum's reaction to the trade could range from surprise the front office actually pulled the trigger on a deal he'd been alerted to the possibility of to him being entirely in the dark about it and upset. Hopefully, for the stability of the team, it was the latter, and not the former.
