DYERSVILLE — It's only fitting that a country music artist will kick off a Major League Baseball game set amongst corn fields.
Alana Springsteen, a 25-year-old country singer from Virginia Beach, Va., is set to perform the national anthem ahead of the Thursday night MLB at Field of Dreams game between the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Despite sharing the same surname, she is not related to musician Bruce Springsteen.
She released her first full-length album, "Twenty Something," in August 2023. The album included collaborations with two well-known country music stars: Chris Stapleton, featured on "Ghost In My Guitar," and Mitchell Tenpenny, featured on "Goodbye Looks Good On You."
Alana Springsteen also toured as the opening act for Luke Bryan's Mind of a Country Boy tour in 2024 and as a supporting act for Keith Urban in 2025.
She is scheduled to perform the national anthem at 6:17 p.m., with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
