Thousands could get the chance to watch England players on the big screen in Torquay if the team gets through to the later stages of the World Cup [PA Media]
Thousands could get the chance to watch England's matches on a giant screen by the sea if Thomas Tuchel's team makes it through to the later stages of the World Cup.
Torbay Council has confirmed if England qualify, Abbey Park in Torquay will host a big screen for the World Cup knockout stages.
A spokesperson for the council said planning was underway and further details would be confirmed closer to the time, should England progress.
Ch Insp James Stock said Devon and Cornwall Police was making preparations for the potential event which could fit up to 10,000 fans, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
Meanwhile, Stock noted extra officers were also standing by to handle a potential increase in domestic violence linked to the World Cup.
He said: "We know there is a potential increase linked to sporting events, particularly football.
"We have additional resources in place for England and Scotland's main games."

Many public venues also operate the Ask for Angela scheme by which anyone feeling unsafe while watching a match can ask staff for Angela to receive discreet help.
