The Los Angeles Rams are getting a big piece of their offensive line back on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, both literally and figuratively speaking.
Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that right guard Kevin Dotson will return to the starting lineup this weekend after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. Justin Dedich has been filling in for Dotson the last three weeks but Dotson will be back in the lineup for the divisional round on Sunday.
Dotson is arguably the Rams’ best offensive lineman, playing at a Pro Bowl level for the last three years. He’s the third-highest-graded guard in the NFL, according to PFF, and has the third-best run-blocking grade, as well.
He’s allowed only 20 pressures, including three sacks, in 15 games this season. Matthew Stafford will be happy to have Dotson back, saying this about his right guard earlier this week.
“He's a mountain of a man. He's a beast,” Stafford said. “When he was playing this year, I thought he was one of the best guards, if not the best guard in the league. If we can get him back, that would be a huge boost. His physicality, his ability to go out there and play is great, but also just the energy he brings. If you guys see him celebrating sometimes when we do good stuff – he's a great guy to have out there and be around.”
With Dotson returning, the Rams’ will have their entire starting offensive line healthy for their playoff game against Chicago.
