yeah - the $$$ means absolutely nothing to me

no salary cap implications and paul allen is loaded - this isn't going to hand cuff them financially to make another move

if there is a move that needs to be made, paul will pay it .... hell he paid jim mora jr $12M to just go away

so that aspect is pretty much irrelevant

i don't like sliding back 20 spots in the 2nd & giving up a 3rd next year

not having a 3rd this year was the only reason seattle just couldn't sign this guy to a tender and make SD either match or deal with it - i bet they wouldn't of matched

this draft looks to be pretty good and I'm sure there would of been some nice players there at #40 - probably will still be some at #60, but I wouldn't be shocked if seattle ended up using one of their 4th rounders to move up in the 2nd and grab someone they like

i can't believe there were people who thought the contract Whitehurst eventually was gonna get was gonna be maybe just a little more than the tender... but then again, I can't believe a lot of what people think here.
You were right. I didn't think he'd get anywhere close to that. I could see giving that in incentives but not just base salary. I would have liked to see CW in Arizona but not at that price.

In a strange sense, what the terms were for Whitehurst is irrelevent, because "QB's are different."

It all depends on how good (or not so) Whitehurst turns out to be.

If he turns out to be good enough for Seattle to win with should Hasselbeck go down - and possibly their go-to guy for the foreseeable future - he'd have been worth a 1st rounder.

But if he lays a big fat egg, a 5th round pick would have been too much for him.
