The Seattle Seahawks are going to start Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe at cornerback this offseason. John Schneider re-signed Jobe earlier this summer to ensure his continuation on the first-team defense. Some offseason changes at the position have created a big-time opportunity for third-year cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett.
The Seahawks lost several key 2025 contributors to free agency. One of the more well-known departures was cornerback Tariq Woolen, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Woolen's exit could catapult Pritchett to the CB3 role.
Pritchett has been alternating in the starting defense as the No. 3 cornerback at OTAs and minicamp, according to The News Tribune's Gregg Bell. That was essentially Woolen‘s role in 2025. Bell noted that head coach Mike Macdonald said Pritchett would get a long look at cornerback this offseason. That's precisely what's happening.
The Seahawks drafted Pritchett in the fifth round out of Auburn during the 2024 NFL draft. The former Tigers standout played just 91 defensive snaps as a sophomore last season. That was even fewer than Pritchett's 151 defensive plays as a rookie.
The Seahawks have been deep at cornerback throughout Pritchett's two seasons in the NFL. They're expecting him to step up to the plate and maximize this opportunity now. It's up to Pritchett to take full advantage.
