The Seattle Seahawks entered Sunday's Week 11 showdown versus the Los Angeles Rams with competition at linebacker. Ernest Jones IV missed the Week 10 contest with an injury. Tyrice Knight responded to the opportunity to play next to Drake Thomas by forcing two fumbles that were returned for touchdowns by DeMarcus Lawrence.
Jones was deemed healthy for the Rams game. Head coach Mike Macdonald had decisions to make regarding how to divide snaps at linebacker. Well, that decision was made for him due to injury. Knight entered concussion protocol after delivering a violent first-quarter hit on a kickoff. Knight was swiftly ruled out and Jones/Thomas played linebacker throughout Sunday's defeat.
Jones played all 51 defensive snaps. Thomas earned 37 snaps, accounting for 73% of Seattle's defensive plays. The Seahawks occasionally took Thomas off the field, going to nickel/dime defense by adding an extra defensive back against the Rams' high-octane offense.
Jones registered six tackles and delivered a powerful defensive speech of quarterback Sam Darnold following his four-interception performance. Thomas had just one tackle against the Rams and was relatively quiet. Knight faces an uphill battle to clear protocol prior to Sunday's Week 12 game versus the Tennessee Titans. It will probably be Jones and Thomas again at linebacker.
