It is officially that time of year again! Just when the country is especially starved for NFL content, the league delivers with its annual Top 100 players list. The first batch of players have been revealed, and they include a Seattle Seahawks defender: linebacker Ernest Jones IV.
For the first time in his career, Ernest Jones IV has appeared on the list and he has debuted at No. 97 overall.
Ernest Jones has been an absolute revelation at linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks. Without the likes of Bobby Wagner patrolling the middle of the field, the Seahawks had struggled to find his replacement. That changed when midway through the 2024 campaign Seattle traded for Jones from the Tennessee Titans, who had acquired him in a trade with the Rams at the beginning of the year. Jones found his permanent NFL home when he signed a three-year, $33 million dollar extension with the Seahawks.
Seattle's run defense went from the worst in the league to one of the best with him at the helm. In his year and a half in the Pacific Northwest, Jones has recorded 162 total tackles, snagged five interceptions, scored one touchdown and has a sack. He has also started in all 28 games he's played, including the playoffs - which resulted in a Super Bowl LX championship.
The Seahawks are quite fortunate to have a player of Jones' caliber being one of their defensive centerpieces.
