SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Maddy Poitras had four goals and one assist as the Marshwood High School girls lacrosse team opened its season with a 17-5 win over Class B Biddeford.

Sarah Theriault added three goals and four assists for the Hawks, while Anna Jennings had three goals and three assists. Teammates Liv Drake, Jolie Folger and Tiegan Boisvert all had two goals, and Eva Hersey had a goal and five assists.

Marshwood goalies Leigh Twohig (eight saves) and Makayle Coy (two) split time in net. Defensively, Lila Manter, Lana Emery, Chloe Walker, and Nora Dockham all played well.

SOMERSWORTH - Senior Abbie Gaynor allowed one hit and struck out six, leading STA (2-0) to this Division III five-inning game.

Sophomore Elizabeth Pelletier led the Saints with four hits, including a home run, two doubles, and three RBIs.

Amelia Anderson and Mattie Williams both had three hits for the Saints, while Gaynor had two, and Paige Pelletier and Hailey Anzmann both had one. Anderson also had three RBIs.

KITTERY, Maine - Chris Balano had two hits and three RBIs for Traip in its Class C South season-opener against the defending state champions.

Sean Webster had one hit, two walks and scored three runs for the Rangers, while Colin O’Loughlin had two hits.

DURHAM - The Clippers won three singles matches and two doubles in this Division II win.

In singles, Portsmouth's Jiles Tracz (No. 1, 8-4), Amitay Hey Tenne (No. 2, 9-7) and Charlie Anderson (No. 3, 8-2) all won their respective matches.

In doubles, Tracz and Amitay Hey Tenne won 8-6 at No. 1, and Hillel Hay Tenne and Jackson French won 8-4 at No. 3.

NORTH HAMPTON - The Saints improved to 4-1 on the season with this Division III sweep at Dearborn Park.

In singles, Alex Molda (No. 1, 8-1), Aaron Molda (No. 2, 8-0), Sam White (No. 3, 8-1), Ben Puertas (No. 4, 8-0), Peter Latsilnik (No. 5, 8-2) and Nolan Cressey (No. 6, 8-6) all won their respective matches.

In doubles, the Molda brothers won 8-0 at No. 1, White and Latsilnik won 8-2 at No. 2, and Tierney Ford and Dominic Meyers won 8-1 at No. 3.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - The No. 2 doubles team of Townes Richard and Christian DeMarco clinched this Eastern Independent League match for Berwick, which improved to 2-1.

Berwick's Gregg Leggett and Sam Jeffries won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and James Mahoney won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

PELHAM - Anna Seifert (No. 1, 8-1), Irina Steinberg (No. 2, 8-1), Morgan Hoyt (No. 3, 8-5), Lillian Alonso (No. 4, 8-1) and Annabel Prochilo (No. 6, 8-1) all won in singles for STA (3-1) in this Division III match.

In doubles, Seifert and Steinberg won 8-2 at No. 1, and Prochilo and Angali Maganti won 8-3 at No. 3.
