Glad the Wayans are involved again. The original films went downhill quick when they stopped after 3 I think. The first 2 were so much better than the others.
I have never seen anything past 1
It's kinda like Airplane/police squad for the next generation...but i just ain't a big fan of campy humor
I would definitely recommend 2. It's very much in the same vein as 1. Same characters and given when it was released it leaned heavily into the haunted house or possession type horror that was big at that time. Same cast and characters from the 1st also.
I want to say 3 is when it got weird as it was hijacked by the guys who did a bunch of parody flicks like Meet The Spartans, Superhero Movie, Disaster Movie, etc.
Yeah, I couldn't get 30 minutes into meet the Spartans.
And I'm a D&D gladiator freak
I can't remember the name of the duo who do those movies but they aren't good. They'd make good sketches on SNL or MadTV and trailers but that's all that's redeemable from them.
From the new trailer it looks like they'll have some characters from part 2 returning and even though it's a dumb comedy it would probably be best to check it out in case they make any call back jokes. I wouldn't be surprised if they knock the films they weren't involved in also.
I guess it was Weinstein who screwed the Wayans out of the rights. Got to be clear when saying Harvey Weinstein screwed anyone. Here's Marlon discussing it on Shannon Sharpes podcast.
