No. 1 Tennessee (16-0) won its second game in the Tennessee Invitational on Friday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Lady Vols defeated Penn State (14-3), 4-1.
Sage Mardjetko (4-0) started for Tennessee and pitched a complete game. The right-handed pitcher totaled 10 strikeouts and 100 pitches (60 strikes) against 25 batters. Mardjetko allowed one hit, two walks and one run (one earned).
Tennessee's offense totaled six hits against the Nittany Lions, including one home run from Ella Dodge. She hit a grand slam in the fifth inning.
Sophia Knight, Gabby Leach, Elsa Morrison, Alannah Leach and Maddi Rutan each recorded one hit for the Lady Vols. Gabby Leach stole Tennessee's only base against Penn State.
Tennessee went 3-for-13 with runners on base and 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Lady vol went 1-for-7 with two outs.
Tennessee also defeated Appalachian State (12-3), 9-1, in six innings on Friday.
