New England Patriots safety Kevin Byard loves the idea of teaming up with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown again.
According to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, Byard said on Tuesday that he is in favor of New England trading for Brown to help the team’s efforts of striving for a Super Bowl next season.
“Don't know what the situation is there,” Byard said. “I hope it can work. I hope he can come here and play for us."
Byard and Brown played together on the Tennessee Titans from 2019-2021 under then-head coach Mike Vrabel, who is now the coach of the Patriots. The two helped the Titans advance to the AFC Championship game at the end of the 2019 season.
The Patriots have been involved in trade talks with the Eagles regarding a deal for Brown throughout the offseason. New England is expected to trade for the former three-time second-team All-Pro wide receiver on or after June 1.
Byard is new to the Patriots, having signed with New England in free agency. Brown has been with the Eagles since 2022. He won a Super Bowl with Philadelphia at the end of the 2024 season.
